Upon introduction into clinical practice, magnetic resonance (MR) has opened numerous novel diagnostic possibilities in perinatology. The non-invasiveness of the method, which has so far proved not to cause any side-effects, allows for its safe implementation for the purpose of the examination of pregnant women. The procedure enables a precise evaluation of the morphology of the embryo’s internal organs, especially encephalon. Much as ultrasonography remains the method of choice in perinatal diagnostics, magnetic resonance may be considered a valuable complementary method, which broadens/extends the spectrum of diagnostic tools used to assess the embryo’s condition. Undoubtedly/Without controversy, the technique is becoming more and more useful in terms of determining the therapeutic means to be taken in perinatology
