Based on literature data, we present herein an efficacy analysis of primary radiotherapy, radio- therapy combined with neo- or adjuvant chemotherapy and a simultaneous chemoradiation of cervical cancer patients. A lack of benefit was demonstrated with regard to the use of chemo- therapy as both a pre-treatment and a complementary treatment to radical irradiation. However, the administration of concurrent cisplatin-based chemoradiation has significantly improved local cure rate as well as the survival of patients with cervical cancer, as compared to primary radiotherapy
