Absent venous duct is an anomaly of the fetal circulatory system, rarely diagnosed prenatally. It can occur as an isolated pathology but fetal anatomy should always be carefully examined as it may be accompanied by other anatomic defects or chromosomal aberrations. The study describes a case of a fetus diagnosed with congenital absent venous duct in the first trimester of pregnancy; it also presents a review of literature on the subject.
