Magnetic resonance is a non-invasive, safe imaging examination which can be performed as a complementary examination when developmental anomalies of fetus have been suspected on the basis of ultrasonographic examination. Data from literature, presented in the paper, suggest a beneficial effect which the introduction of the MR examination into the prenatal diagnostics has had on the quality of maternal and fetal care. The authors, basing on their own research findings, provide illustrations showing examples of some anomalies detected with the MR method.
