The study presents the case of a female patient with a diagnosed dermoid cyst, hospitalized at the Clinical Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics in Tychy. The lesion is usually asymptomatic but it may also cause pain, additional bleeding or non-specific gastric symptoms. The most feared complication is the torsion of the cyst pedicle or cyst rupture with spillage of its content resulting in peritonitis. The complications may be so dangerous that an earliest possible surgical intervention is recommended in that urgent gynaecological condition.
